Our sanding sleeves are mainly supplied by Lukas, a German manufacturer with a very wide range of sanding and grinding products.

Sanding sleeves and speeds

Sanding sleeves can be roughly divided into two types: conical sanding sleeves and cylindrical sanding sleeves. The sleeves are attached to a straight grinder or pencil grinder using a holder. The speed is determined by the diameter of the sanding sleeve and the hardness of the mandrel. The smaller the sanding sleeve, the higher the speed can be. A 10x20 mm sleeve, for example, requires 57,000 rpm. A large diameter of 75 mm can be used with a maximum speed of 6,500 rpm.
Furthermore, a soft sanding sleeve holder requires significantly less speed than a hard holder.

A hard holder is most commonly used. The soft holder is used when contours need to be followed. We are, of course, happy to advise you.

Sanding sleeves and CubitronII

A separate quality of sanding sleeves is the CubitronII quality from 3M. At the initiative of Metaaltechniek, 3M developed and included this product in their range. The sanding sleeves in this quality have been enthusiastically received by users. The Cubitron™ II mineral provides very high cutting power, is more aggressive and faster, and causes less heat build-up. In addition, you are assured of a uniform finish and Cubitron II abrasive minerals have an extremely long service life. This is because the minerals have a pointed shape and are vertically oriented in the direction of the workpiece in order to penetrate deep into the metal. The minerals wear evenly and retain their triangular shape. This guarantees limited heat build-up and a cost-effective service life.

Abrasive sleeves and diameters in CubitronII

The available diameters in CubitronII quality are: 45 x 30 mm, 60 x 30 mm and 75 x 30 mm. Available grits: in grits 36+, 60+ and 80+.  
36+ coarseness is suitable for all applications in coarseness P24, P36, P40
60+ coarseness is suitable for all applications in coarseness P40, P50, P60
80+ coarseness is suitable for all applications in coarseness P60, P80, P100
